how things will turn out in the near or further future. We think that all kinds of ideology-based dictatorships
are already past, but let’s consider the following:
The gas supplies are weaker and weaker, the lack of these kinds of fuel could have another world war
as a result. And what usually comes after a big war? Unstable, shattered society looking for it‘s stability
and integrity that a military dictatorship can provide. But the costs for a decision like this are pretty high –persecution of a certain group of people with different ideals that could jeopardize the dictator post, including censorship and surveillance. People would lose their privacy and would live in fear. If you’ve ever read
the book called 1984 written by George Orwell as a reaction on stalinism in eastern Europe, you probably
know what I’m talking about.
The conclusion
From the point of view that I partly had before and partly formed making this presentation, I wouldn’t
put world development and technology development equal. Technology development is for me something
that scientists, developers and experts have to work on and that provides our lives with more and more luxury.
World development (world meaning mankind), on the other hand, means for me the technological development,
ensuring that things don’t break down plus the ability of a man to deal with problems and survive when things
do break down. All this might seem like far future, that’s not related to our personal lives, but let’s face it –
how far has technology gone in the last 40 years? How far will it go in another 40 years, when we reach our 60s?
Don’t forget about the exponential I’ve mentioned. Think about it.
