USA is situated in south part of North America. It is the fourth largest country in the world after Russia, Canada and China. The USA covers an area of about 9, 5 million sq km. The USA is the third most populous country in the world after China and India, it has more than 300 million inhabitants. The capital of the USA is Washington D.C. The Americans are often called „a nation of immigrants“. Now, there live white people, Afro-Americans and Asians. One of the largest ethnic group, Hispanic, isn’t official ethnic group. Official language of the USA is English and the currency is the Dollar.
The USA is comprised of 50 states and one small area which is not part of any state – Washington D.C. Every state has its own state government, laws, customs and education. However, every state has to keep to the Constitution. The United States democratic republic, it is a federation of 50 countries and the head of state is president.
The Flag consist of 13 alternating red and white horizontal stripes – it is symbol of original 13 colonies. In the upper-left corner is blue rectangle with 50 white stars- 50 stars symbolize 50 states. They got independence in 1776. The executive power has the president who is elected for 4 years with the vice president, the legislative power has Congress made of two Houses: The House of Representatives and Senate. Congress proposes and approves federal laws, it can declare war and approves the choice of federal judges and the cabinet. The judiciary power has The Supreme Court. In USA there are two leading parties: Democratic Party and Republican Party. The first US president was
