MEANS OF COMMUNICATION
TV Set
It is a source /zdroj/ of information and entertaiment. The first TV was made in 1929. But the remote control /řízený na dálku/ was made 27 years later, in 1956. Television became a drug for the young generation, which devotes /věnovat se/ all its free time to watching TV. People would otherwise spend more time doing sport and doing more for their health.
Radio
The radio is a very important invention. From its beginning radio was used for better communication among people. Radio has given important news and directions, which have helped many people in wars. These days radio is for listening to music, news and interviews. Radio helps to develop our imagination. People can do all things while listening to the radio. Every household has one or more radios.

Mobile phones
If we had said this word to our great-grandparents /pra-prarodičům/ they wouldn´t have been able to imagine what it is. But nowdays all people, even little kids, know what the thing called a mobile phone is.
The love affair /zamilovanost/ with mobile phones is world-wide. The Americans call them cell phones (a cell /baterie/ is a battery). That´s short for cellular phone. But nobody in America can say “cellular“ phone quickly. The Australians call it a mobile. But somebody from Ireland (usually a teenager) will call it a mobee. And in Germany, for instance, they call them Handies.
Mobiles have two qualities that make them much more powerful than their fixed-line brothers: they travel around with you and they know where you are. This means you can keep in touch /styk/ with people where
